ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Metuchen, NJ and would never have imagined that I would spend my career working in education. I was not a great student, maybe not even a good student, and did not enjoy school until I started an English bachelor's degree at Rutgers University and then it clicked. I have since earned a Masters in Education, a supervisor certificate, and I am currently enrolled in the Education Technology program at NJCU. I have taught elementary school in both first and second grades for the past seventeen years. In addition to being a classroom teacher I am also the basic skills supervisor of the after school program at our school. Within our school I helped initiate a school garden, a volunteer garden club, a poetry and comic book writing program, a school based podcast, a school community working coffee shop, and currently teaching in a cluster model classroom. I live outside of Philadelphia in Haddon Twp., NJ with my wife, an assistant principal, and my two daughters Ruby Mae and Iris Yvonne. Outside of school my interests include songwriting, traveling, reading, brewing Kombucha, and daydreaming of retiring to Vermont.
