a. Engage in continual learning to deepen content and pedagogical knowledge in technology integration and current and emerging technologies necessary to effectively implement the Standards

b. Engage in continuous learning to deepen professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions in organizational change and leadership, project management, and adult learning to improve professional practice

c. Regularly evaluate and reflect on their professional practice and dispositions to improve and strengthen their ability to effectively model and facilitate technology enhanced learning experiences

Reflection:

In this standard coaches are in a continual pursuit to learn, expand, and develop their content knowledge and to actively stay current on emerging technology. In doing so coaches can best integrate rich technology experiences into the classroom. Coaches pursuit of learning can be diverse and may include formal education courses, ongoing professional learning, and on the job experience to bolster their professional knowledge, skills, and disposition. Finally, coaches reflect often and evaluate their performance on their own or with feedback from staff.

I strive continually to educate myself and to challenge my perceptions of what what students and teachers are capable of in the classroom. Recently, I volunteered to teach the first cluster classrooms in second grade. As part of being a cluster model (an inclusion model classroom with talented and gifted students) teacher I was fortunate to attend The University of Connecticut's week long Confratute which is a summer institute focused on enrichment based differentiated teaching. I was inspired and reached out to possibly present as well as attend again next summer. I created a separate website for the Cluster model and update it for parents, staff, and students with relevant articles and projects.

Formally I have extended my education throughout my life. I earned a Bachelor's in English, a Masters in Elementary Education, and a Supervisor Certification at Rutgers University. I am currently enrolled in NJCU's online Media Specialist Certification program. The recent courses at NJCU have aided in my own growth as a classroom teacher and are preparing me well for the transition to media specialist.

Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.

-Albert Einstein

21st Century Education won't be defined by any new technology. It won't be just defined by 1:1 technology programs or tech-intensive projects. 21st Century Education will, however, be defined by a fundamental shift in what we are teaching - a shift towards learner-centered education and creating creative thinkers. - Karl Fisch
